The MarNIS Port Assessment Toolkit from ABPmer will support Shetland Islands Council manage marine risk.

ABPmer a leading UK marine consultancy, has been commissioned to provide Shetland Islands Council with a MarNIS ‘Port Assessment Toolkit’ for managing marine risk.

Shetland, the northernmost part of the United Kingdom, has over 900 miles of coastline with several ports and many piers. The largest port is Sullom Voe, which handles oil from the Atlantic Frontier to the west of Shetland. As Harbour Authority, the council has responsibility for operating a number of smaller ports and piers, many of which provide lifeline ferry services.

The Port Assessment Toolkit has been designed as a pragmatic marine risk management software package built to fully cover the requirements of the Port Marine Safety Code. The software helps Harbour Masters and marine professionals to create and organise marine risk assessments, log accidents/incidents and produce Key Performance Indicator information for board reports.
